Questions about online Dutch lessons?

This online Dutch lessons FAQ helps you understand how lessons work at Talk Dutch Today. You can find answers about private Dutch lessons online, scheduling, lesson packages, prices, cancellations, exam support and how to get started with a free intake.

Getting Started

The easiest way to start is by booking a free intake. During this first conversation, we look at your level, your goals, your availability and what kind of online Dutch lessons would suit you best.

After that, we can suggest a personal learning path that fits your situation, whether you want to improve your speaking, prepare for an exam, communicate better at work or feel more comfortable using Dutch in daily life.

Yes. We regularly work with students who start from zero. We guide you step by step and make sure the lessons feel manageable, clear and encouraging.

You do not need to be naturally good at languages to begin. What matters much more is the right structure, the right support and a teacher who adapts to your pace.

In your first lesson, we usually look at your current level, your confidence and your goals. We also get a feel for how you learn best.

The aim is not to overwhelm you. It is to understand where you are now and what would help you progress in a practical and realistic way.

Lesson Format

Yes. Most of our online Dutch lessons are private one-to-one lessons. That means we build around your level, your goals, your work situation and the kind of Dutch you actually need.

We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all syllabus. Your lessons should feel relevant and useful from the start.

Yes. Many students come to us because they already understand some Dutch, but still hesitate to speak. In that case, we can focus strongly on speaking, fluency, pronunciation and natural conversation.

We can also combine speaking with listening, reading, writing or grammar if that would support your progress better.

Yes. Our lessons are fully online, which makes them practical for busy professionals, expats and adults with changing schedules.

Online lessons also allow us to work with students in a calm, focused and flexible way, no matter where they are based.

Support & Results

Both. We can help you with practical, everyday Dutch for real life, but also with more structured or professional Dutch for work, meetings, presentations or formal situations.

The goal is always the same: language that feels usable, relevant and natural for your own life.

Yes. We support students preparing for official Dutch exams, including speaking, writing, listening, reading and KNM. We can adapt the lessons to the exact skills that need extra attention.

Whether you need broad preparation or support for one specific exam component, we can tailor the lessons accordingly.

That is completely fine. Many adults feel insecure about learning a language, especially when they are busy, tired or perfectionistic.

Our approach is calm, personal and supportive. We take the time to understand how you learn best, so that progress feels possible instead of frustrating.

Our teachers come from different professional backgrounds and areas of specialization, but all of them are trained in the internal Talk Dutch Today method and held to the same quality standard.

Before working with paid clients, each teacher follows a structured internal training process, including method training, guided practice and live teaching preparation.

What connects everyone is a strong focus on clarity, empathy, structure and teaching that truly matches the student in front of us.

Planning, Pricing & Practicalities

Scheduling depends on your teacher, your package and your availability. We try to keep planning practical and realistic, especially for busy expats and professionals.

Many students choose a regular weekly rhythm, but lesson planning can often be adjusted when needed.

Lessons need to be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. This helps us protect the schedule and keep planning fair for both students and teachers.

If you are already a student, cancellations can usually be arranged through the booking portal.

You can view our current online Dutch lesson prices and package options on the pricing page. This includes monthly plans, lesson packages and A2 preparation routes.

If you are not sure what would suit you best, we can also discuss that during the intake.

Payment options can include IBAN bank transfer, payment link, bank card or credit card, depending on the arrangement.

If you have a practical question about payment, just reach out and we will help you directly.

Yes. Existing students can use the student portal to check planning and lesson-related information.
