Language Learning Terms and Conditions

Clear policies. No fine-print games.

These terms explain how individual Dutch lessons at Talk Dutch Today work, including scheduling, cancellations, payments, lesson validity, lesson format, and online Dutch lessons in the Netherlands.

Talk Dutch Today · Terms & Conditions (B2C) · December 2025

Before you start

These terms apply to all individual (B2C) Dutch lessons provided by Talk Dutch Today.

By booking lessons, purchasing a lesson package, starting a subscription, or continuing after your first lesson, you agree to the policies below.

If anything is unclear, feel free to contact us. We prefer clarity over fine print.

1

What kind of lessons do you offer?

All lessons are:

  • online
  • one-on-one
  • fully personalized

We do not work with one fixed textbook or a standard syllabus. Lessons are adapted to your goals, level, pace, and real-life situation in the Netherlands.

2

Is the first lesson commitment-free?

Yes.

Your first lesson is commitment-free. No long-term obligation is created before or during that first lesson.

3

How does scheduling work?

Lessons are scheduled in advance via our booking system.

Please make sure you book your lessons within the validity period of your lesson package or subscription.

4

What is the cancellation policy?

Lessons must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time.

  • Cancellations made within 24 hours are counted as delivered lessons.
  • If you do not attend a scheduled lesson without notice, the lesson is counted as delivered.
  • Missed group lessons are not credited back.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests should be communicated via email to admin@talkdutchtoday.nl.

5

What happens in case of technical issues?

If technical issues on the instructor’s side significantly disrupt a lesson, the lesson may be rescheduled or credited.

If technical issues occur on the student’s side, such as internet problems, device issues, or software problems, the lesson is normally not credited.

We aim to be fair and consistent in applying this policy, but a stable internet connection and suitable device remain the student’s responsibility.

6

What if someone is late?

Lessons end at the scheduled time, even if the student arrives late.

  • If the instructor is more than 5 minutes late, the student may request a reschedule.
  • If a student joins after more than 50% of the lesson time has passed, the lesson may be considered completed.
  • Any extra time given by the instructor is voluntary.
7

What lesson format do you use?

Lessons are typically offered as 45-minute or 60-minute sessions, depending on the format agreed in advance.

Our 60-minute sessions are structured as focused teaching sessions within a 60-minute time slot. This format may include a short internal buffer to maintain lesson quality, concentration, and continuity throughout the day.

The exact lesson format is agreed in advance and forms part of the service booked by the student.
8

How do payments work?

All lessons must be paid in advance.

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly, unless agreed otherwise.
  • Lesson packages must be paid before the first lesson starts.
  • Payments are non-refundable, except where explicitly stated.
9

Do you offer refunds?

After the first completed lesson, no refunds are issued under any circumstances, except where required by law.

No refunds are given for:

  • unused lessons
  • missed lessons
  • expired lessons

Administrative or bank fees may apply to any approved refund.

10

How long are lessons valid?

Lesson packages and subscriptions are valid for the agreed period.

Unused lessons expire after that period and cannot be refunded.

In exceptional circumstances, an extension may be granted at our discretion.

11

Can lessons be rescheduled by Talk Dutch Today?

Yes, in rare cases.

Lessons may be rescheduled due to illness, holidays, or other unforeseen circumstances. We always aim to minimize changes and maintain continuity.

12

What about teaching materials?

All lesson materials, including documents, exercises, notes, and other learning content, remain the intellectual property of Talk Dutch Today.

They are intended for personal use only and may not be shared, reproduced, distributed, or sold without prior permission.

13

Are lessons recorded?

Lessons may be recorded for training or quality purposes, but only with prior notice.

Any use of lesson recordings for promotional purposes requires explicit consent.

14

What learning environment is expected?

Students are expected to:

  • join lessons from a reasonably quiet location
  • participate respectfully and constructively

If a student repeatedly joins from a disruptive environment, the instructor may end the lesson. In that case, the lesson is counted as delivered.

15

What if I have a complaint or feedback?

We aim for high-quality lessons and open communication.

If something is not working, please:

All feedback is handled with care and professionalism.

16

Liability

Language learning progress differs from person to person.

Talk Dutch Today is not liable for indirect or consequential damages related to lesson participation, lesson outcomes, or learning results.

17

Acceptance of terms

By booking lessons, purchasing a package, or starting a subscription, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

In short

These terms are here to protect both the student and Talk Dutch Today, while keeping expectations clear, fair, and professional.
